Trumpington Meadows Country Park
When land to the west of Trumpington village was taken out of the Green Belt for development, it provided a good opportunity to create more public open space for the city as well as much needed homes.
Trumpington Meadows is a nature reserve managed by the local wildlife trust and is proving very popular with both human beings and wildlife. There is a Facebook page which is full of beautiful images taken by local photographers, as well as news of events and activities taking place.

During the 20th century this part of Trumpington was the home of the Plant Breeding Institute, responsible for the development of many important strains of food plants, including potatoes, onions and cereals, many of which were used to name the streets built there.
The local history group has produced a series of walking trails which are available free of charge in the Trumpington library, and they include one around the country park area
