How the Stitch in Time quilts were made

In the autumn of 2016 we had enough completed panels to make our first quilt, and we learned how to put them together at a workshop led by Valerie of Daisy May.

This process is called sashing, and we used a fairly dark, neutral material which we thought would set off the variety of panels that were being made.

The panels for the second quilt were ready by early January 2017, and sent off, together with the panels made by the two church groups, to the workshops of Daisy May.

The next stage was the quilting, when the panels and sashing were attached to a layer of padding and a layer of backing material.
