Stitching for charity

We have a regular group who meet to knit for charity, and we welcome contributions from anyone who would like to make items. We mostly donate finished knitting to the charity Knit For Peace, who send parcels to all kinds of groups in need, including women’s shelters, flood & disaster areas, refugees and war zones. We also make contributions to local charities for homeless people such as Wintercomfort and to other local appeals as they arise, such as the Angel Pockets we made for the ambulance service.

Items most needed are hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters for all ages and especially larger children and adults; also toys & teddies, blankets from squares, and lap blankets. Knit For Peace have many patterns on their website and provide a regular update on what is most needed.

During lockdown we made masks for volunteers, and over the years we have responded to many requests from different charities such as making hats for premature babies and twiddle muffs for a local residential home.

If you would like to contribute but need yarn & needles, email Philippa who will be glad to supply you with what you need from our stores. And if you would like to donate yarn, Philippa would be pleased to receive it.
