Trumpington War Memorial

TRUMPINGTON WAR MEMORIAL

The village war memorial on the High Street was dedicated to the memory of soldiers killed in the First World War and unveiled in December 1921. A detailed history can be found here,

It was originally designed and carved by Eric Gill, with an additional panel commemorating soldiers of the Second World War by the Kindersley Workshop

There is a service of remembrance held at the memorial on Remembrance Sunday every year, when increasing numbers of people assemble for the two minutes silence while the traffic is stopped as a sign of respect.
