Remembrance display in the lobby of the Trumpington Pavilion

2015 display in the Pavilion lobby

In 2015 we decided to prepare a display to honour the men of Trumpington who had fought in World War One. We centred the display on the Roll of Honour in the Village Hall, and used information supplied by the Trumpington Local History Group. We experimented with many of the crochet and knitting patterns available for making poppies and produced some for the display and others in the form of brooches for sale in aid of the British Legion.

Members of the Trumpington youth group made the poppies displayed along the base – 67 in all, in memory of the 67 Trumpington men known to have died.

We would like to create another display in 2018 to mark the end of World War One, using material from the original research carried out by members of the Trumpington Local History Group. Please contact us if you would like to take part.
